Hi-Line has a major contract with Western Power Distribution (WPD)  for power line clearance in the South West. This includes High Voltage line clearance (11kv, 33kv, 132kv) which is usually in rural areas and is often off the beaten track across fields, woodlands etc. We also deal with Low Voltage (240v) line clearances which tend to be along roads or in the grounds of domestic properties and which call for a greater degree of finesse and customer sensitivity. Much of this work is undertaken as part of a programme of preventative maintenance but we also attend to a large number of reactive requests from WPD. We are on call 24 hours a day to deal with emergencies such as trees which have blown down over power lines during storms.

Hi-Line also has the exclusive contract with BT Openreach (BT) for BT's entire tree surgery requirements throughout England, Wales and Scotland. As explained in our National Services page, we service much of this contract through our national network of contractors, but most of the jobs arising in the South West are carried out by our own cutting teams. The work arising under the BT contract principally involves providing clearance around cables running between BT poles and clearing around the poles themselves. Much of this work is along roadsides but can also be on domestic properties and in fields and woodlands. We currently attend to around 5000 separate BT jobs per annum.
